4.5 miles. Regular VFW stretch. Sleet and windy…
2.5 miles from Walnut Grill. Met Prerna for dinner.
6 mi from Down under. Splitting headache. Totally not fun!
8 mi , VFW loop. Legs still sore from last weekend!
Miled about 16. To Harvard and back, well almost. Driving earlier in the day today Miss Me and I scouted another route for me to run. Head toward newton street, then instead of turning to the right towards south street head straight up beyond Putnam circle onto VFW parkway. Bordered Allandale woods and decided to head towards the Yoga studio in Brookline. Legs felt pretty good and weather was cold and crisp with a light drizzle. Decided to go further on and hit the Boston University bridge. Boston looked so pretty tonight from Cambridge. Ran further upto Harvard and finally decided to turn around. Called Miss Me and asked for a pick up at her Studio. ...
2mi to the optometrist, contact ‘fittings’ and then 4mi back home via the ‘short-cut’. Listened to the Outside podcast on Joe Stone’s crash while speed flying. Spring is in and so is the warm weather. So gonna miss the freezing runs.
6 miles on the VFW loop. Good to be back on the roads. Never thought rest would be so painful. Should probably ease back in to the schedule and get some longer miles over the weekend.
2.5 miles around oak square. Resting out the legs. Some cold treatment and hopefully the muscles relax out over the next few days.
The left shin looks to be in trouble and running seems to be stressing it further. I think it’s time to take some steps back and let the body recover.
A six mile short cut from CHS. Head over to the reservoir and then looped back to newton street via JD auto. No way compensates the 15mile run I had to do yesterday. New route and home by 5. Good days!
Decided to make today a rest day. Yesterday’s 8 miler, the shin pain and the frigid weather seem to have nuked me totally. Looks like I’m drained physically…
Painful 8 miler at Middlesex fells. Shouldn’t have hit the trails this quickly. Looks like the shin needs to recover a bit more. The weather didn’t make things easier either. Super windy with temps in sub 15F. Today totally ‘felt’ like being out there in the wild. Hopefully the weather gets better tomorrow.
Someone chickened out and did just 4.5 miles instead of 6. Looks like this week is all downhill in terms of mileage. Regular VFW loop.
A neat 7 miler to the yoga studio. Miss Me wanted to try out a new dish at Veggie galaxy. Slow but steady pace. Was so looking forward to the fries and apple cider!
6 miler with just a raccoon sighting. Good pace finishing out in 1:10. The coyotes seem to be hibernating!
8 mile early AM run. VFW loop. Had to get this done in the morning to keep the evening free for some ice skating!
Was supposed to run a 6 miler today. Long day at work. Asked Miss me to come over to the reservoir. Initial plan was to walk it out. The shin pain in the left foot has become a cause of concern. Decided to take it easy for the day and head home. Gave it a good ice treatment for about an hour or so. Probably need to follow up with some exercises to strengthen those muscles. ...
A good 8mile run from the yoga studio to home. Clocked about 01:25. As I was waiting at a signal near BWH a fellow runner who looked pretty shaken asked if she could tag along for a few blocks. Apparently some random guy on the road pushed her on to the wall and tried molesting her…Disgusting! The roads were pretty well lit AND there were quite a few folks out there. Appalling that one has to be always on guard in Boston too. ...
7ish miles on the regular VFW route. Had a ‘blah’ start but looked like I was doing a great pace. Probably getting back on the road after a week on the treadmill was a good push. Niggling shin pain, no cramps. No coyote sightings!
A mile on the roads in the morning. Stretches of sidewalks still icy. Decided to head back home. Clocked 8 on the treadmill later in the evening at the Y right after work. Miss Me ended up rowing for sometime, after quite sometime!
13.5 miles on the treadmill at the Y. Let’s check that off as the first half for this month and my first ever on a treadmill. Was obviously NOT fun. The weather out was in the balmy lower 50s. Initial plan was to finally get some miles out in the trails at Hale Reservation. With the road entry closed out and snow still lingering at about 7-8" on the trails, didn’t really make sense to attempt a distance run there. Hopefully tomorrow’s 15 is the last on the treadmill. ...
Signing off the 53 mile week with a 3hr, 15mile run on the treadmill. The weather looks promising for the next week. Hoping the snow melts down over the next few days. Can’t wait to get back to the trails and dirt roads.
Another 6miles in the evening followed by a two and a half hour Shiatsu massage with Miss Me. The massage was probably more demanding than the run. Some exceptional stretches though. Over time I’m realizing how important and relaxing these stretches could be. I believe they’ve also been heavily responsible for my injury free runs so far. Besides the niggling shin pain now and then, I feel pretty good overall after the runs. The minor pain right above the right knee seems to have slowly crept away. I do believe I need to work on some more strengthening exercises to ‘oil my machine’. Shall hopefully incorporate them soon into the regimen. ...
6 miles at the Y in an hour. Not bad. Looks like I’m slowly defaulting to my 10 minute miles. Initially planned to run in the morning. Guess I was way too fatigued to get up. Also looks like last nights 8 mile run hit me hard. Work, Study and other Misc. things seem to be heavily dragging me down. Feels like I’ve not had a good break in a while..Nevertheless, so glad I’m training for this. ...
