#778: What the Falcon’s Up With Qatar?

The power dynamics in the middle east, the unending civil unrest in Syria, the recent spike in terrorist activities in London and Paris, ..and a ton of other things that go unreported…There’s so much negative force playing in the air! Around 20 people are displaced forcefully from their homes every minute..This is insane! We are in pretty turbulent times and hopefully don’t reach critical mass anytime soon. Wishful thinking? Hoping against hope that we as humans don’t become ‘immune’ to this negativity and give as much thought (and action) to consciously nip things in the bud. The world is in dire need of positivity and the onus is on each one of us to give every other person a second ear to try and understand where the disconnect is… ...

That anomaly grows exponentially with the density of traffic :). You could barely go fast with so many vehicles around you and the thrill of scraping past the other vehicles keeps you hyper alert! I’m eagerly looking forward to driving back in India later this year, after four years here in the US. Wonder if my muscle memory would still work it’s magic and if the impulse will play along! ...

Sun Salutations B

Up at 04:30am and had ample time to get ready. Did a dry runthrough of the sequence with Miss Me just before we left home and that provedto be pretty useful. Today’s class was much better in terms of execution.Practiced Sun Salutations A for about eight times. Kate then walked me throughSun Salutation B thrice and left me to practice. I felt the transition from Ato B was pretty fluid and got a decent hang of the B sequence. Closed out with Shavasanaafter 10 breaths each in the different variants of Padmasana. ...

Learning to breathe

First ashtanga class at Down Under Yoga and it felt SO FREAKING GOOD! Started off with a short chant and dived straight into Sun Salutations A. The first few rounds felt pretty straight forward. But then pretty quickly I found it really hard to keep track of my breathing and the sequence. I was asked to watch as Meena and another fogi (fellow yogi) moved over to Sun Salutations B. After they practiced that for a bit, We moved over to the lotus position. Some good shoulder stretch and body holds (names of which I don’t quite remember now!) and we closed out the session with a long Shavasana. The heat in the room and the consistent nasal breathing had me sweating loads by the end. ...

Couldn’t resist replying! At times I feel I bought my Kindle for the cover :) in reply to: Exploring the digital life. Torn between Saturday morning laziness and wanting to get work done at the house before it gets hot I opted to walk down to get coffee and read. I’ll be sweating later but at least I’ll be awake. For #thirtyhappy 22, Starbucks within walking distance. 23, how awesome is that Kindle cover ...

Webactions

Testing out a very primitive form of webactions. If the code works the way it runs in my mind, twitter specific response buttons should show up below this text! Need to spend more time later to add markup for indie-action. Srikanth Perinkulam like reply repost

Liked: Micro.blog Desktop I’ve been using micro.blog for a few weeks now. The new way of posting and owning my own content is growing on me and I am really enjoying posting to my own site again. One thing I found was I wasn’t really interacting much during the day, I put this down to not having a desktop app. Srikanth Perinkulam

Hoopla Reading

Biggest find so far this weekend! Just realized one could borrow upto 10 digital titles (audiobooks, e-books, music and video) a month from hoopla via a local library. Started reading What doesn’t kill us by Scott Carney. Shantaram has been on the back burner for quite sometime now. Hopefully will get to it soon. like reply repost
