I reworked how posts are displayed on my site - essentially moving over the micro-posts to a page of it’s own. Over time with different publishing workflows and experimentations, the site’s taken the brunt. Over the next few weeks, I plan on tweaking things further to make publishing posts quick and seamless.

Vishu Kani

Today I learnt, Vishu is not the Kerala New Year (Since 825 CE!) and it essentially is the celebration of the vernal equinox (at Kerala’s latitude?). I added in a few non-traditional items to the Kani this time: A watch to symbolize ’time’, a USB stick to symbolize ‘memory’, different currencies to symbolize ’travel’, nuts and dates to symbolize ‘health’ and of course a digital card to purchase freedom. Towering radiant lamps in the darkness and tranquility - I could take this in everyday! ...

@tnpoliceoffl What would it take for you to legalize or make it mandatory for all ambulances to drive on the opposite direction of traffic flow? I’ve seen this in Uganda and it’s amazing how swift they’re able to beat the traffic. Oncoming traffic has no option but to make way.

A fascinating talk by Jonah Edwards to the Internet Archive staff. They manage ~200PB of data in-house! https://archive.org/download/jonah-edwards-presentation/jonah-edwards-presentation_720p.mp4

e-mails

I recently had to turn on images in a particular e-mail to read a specific piece of content which I thought was interesting. It’s alarming and rather obscene how images are used in certain newsletters to convey a simple wall of text. Thanks, no thanks - I’m unsubscribing right away! And while we’re on that topic, I’ve been using postale.io for about a couple months now and absolutely love it! Setting it up was a breeze and the web-front is refreshingly clean! ...

Webactions

Testing out a very primitive form of webactions. If the code works the way it runs in my mind, twitter specific response buttons should show up below this text! Need to spend more time later to add markup for indie-action. Srikanth Perinkulam like reply repost

Hoopla Reading

Biggest find so far this weekend! Just realized one could borrow upto 10 digital titles (audiobooks, e-books, music and video) a month from hoopla via a local library. Started reading What doesn’t kill us by Scott Carney. Shantaram has been on the back burner for quite sometime now. Hopefully will get to it soon. like reply repost

Rained out!

The weekends’ here and the weather looks perfect. Thundershowers forecast for most of tomorrow and a hazy Sunday. Should get some longish miles out there. Reminds me of the innumerable weekends spent hiking along the western ghats checking forts off the list and snacking off the roadside! Will probably head to noon reservation tomorrow. Was initially thinking early morning around 4ish. But given the weather will probably join the TARC folks later in the day. Miles ahead! ...

Ashtanga

Miss Me and I went for an observation class of Ashtanga at Down Under Yoga before work. Been on cards for a while now and we finally decided to give it a shot today. To be honest, looks pretty daunting and mesmerizing! Given my flexibility, rather the lack of it, this is going to be pretty interesting! Srikanth Perinkulam like reply repost
