Budokan Karate

I'm compelled to postpone the classes as a few other things needed attention. Hope to rebound sometime soon.

[14-Nov-08] Day 4 Progress:
The pains subsided. The coach introduces Dual stretch exercises. I don't seem to be catching up with others. Definitely calls for more practice when the classes are not there! Guess I'll have to wake a bit more early and focus on this.

[10-Nov-08] Day 3 Progress:

My Trekking and Cycling is indeed helping! Despite the rigorous stretching it ain't paining. Just that the higher calf muscles pull in at times, but that's sorta OK. A few exercises reminds me of# my kiddo days!Rolling from one end of the ground to the other without the head touching the ground, Pivoting on the arms and hovering around.

[07-Nov-08] Day 2 Progress:

I'm pathetically bad! Though I've got no pains as such, I'm finding it difficult to fall in sync. The coach introduced a few more stretching exercises, Swirling over the head, Tactical moves forward and backward, Attack position through self defence, Directional leg stretching et al. Things are just getting interesting!

[05-Nov-08] Day 1:

Wow! This thing is cool. Never knew one could muster so much strength with just the vocal chords! A few muscle stretching exercises and a good warm up.

[04-Nov-08]

When I was in my fourth grade, one fateful day we had this announcement in the class that all of us need to opt for at least one extra-curricular activity. We had a choice of Yoga and Karate. We could decide then and there or take time, ponder over it and get back to the PT marshal and give him the choice that we opted for the next day. Loyal and gentle that I was, I headed back home. Over the dinner table, I finally brought about the topic. The Rest is something you could easily guess!
My quest to learn Karate then was pretty short lived. Things just got over me and I pursued something else. But one thing just did not change. I soon realized, I had a powerful fist and never did I lose the opportunity to use it in quarrels . Be it with my brother or just anyone else. That habit fortunately or unfortunately still remains. My hand involuntarily tries to pat someone's back when we meet after quite sometime and though it's not the fist generally , the palm does seem to make its impact!

I've joined Budokan Karate classes this week in the Infy campus. This time its not the juvenile interest but a yearning to master the art form. I just realized how inflexible my body is despite the regular trekking. Three days a week - you get to learn something new and different. What else could one ask for?
